Thank you so much.
Somu, what a great artiste!
I was just listening to this phenomenal Somu-LGJ combo that Semmu had posted elsewhere. It is unlikely that there could ever be another like him.

To: MahaVishnu, Varsha and all of the Divine "Sahasranama" names to be found in this forum (an unparalleled Hindu tradition yielding its way these days towards a "Pinky" and "Dolly")....
In studying Linguistics, you sometimes doodle, looking for words from all over the world, which they say are just emoted in sound but are untranslatable into the English.
While we came across many, we chose this Greek one for being somewhat in context
" "Meraki" (pronounced may-rah-kee; Greek): Doing something with soul, creativity, or love. It’s when you put something of yourself into what you’re doing....."
Madurai Somu was all of the above and something more. Even while engaged in his profound art he could be all infectious fun and laughter at most times with his trademark verve and vigor, but in a split second he could perceive an imaginary slight or ignominy by humanity to his wondrous Lord and rush to cushion the blow personally on himself. He would then tend towards taking the entire audience on a path of cleansing through anguish and repentance before releasing them back into joyous worlds as before....
In the many annals of Carnatic music which all rests today only the piety of a Thyagaraja or Purandara Dasa towards a "Supreme" and of men and women of similar ilk, we wonder if the raptures of a personal "Bhakti" (resting on the foundations of "Samskrutha" RV 1.38.12C) can ever be assimilated or explained in English words to another. No amount of any permutation or combination with any musical or technological experiments in future, through any mechanical thoughts in fusion, can ever be made a replica to it.
Madurai Somu, we feel, came nearest to creating a bridge between that something "eternal" and our "sojourn-al" during these miniscule lifetimes.
