Gam Ganapathe
Charam Charam asaveri, Composer ?
Hamirkalyani for Venkatasaila
Himachala thanaye Shaymasastri AB
A broad alapana in Nagaswarali for Sripathe(T)
Niraval Rajathi Raja..
Chinthamaya lingam MD (Paraz)
Bairavi alapana in 2 stages for Upacharamule
I lost an intend to note as there were many varieties
Azhwar ragamaalika (sahana,shanmukapriya)
including a rabinddro sangeetha Hamar jama bhoomi
Darbari kannada
Dasarayendra Purandara(the usual)
...
Mangalam
Well it a very good concert. The auditorium and sound system were just like the wish list.
The accompaniments gave a very good support. Amrita Murali for Vijaya Siva is improving on the violin too. Augurs good for Carnatic Music.
Vocalist has a talent to execute fast brigas on the upscale and that as fine as a Balamurali.
Maybe the only grouse was the lack of a small or reasonable alapna for Shyama Shastri or MD considering the fact that it helps to understand the lyric structure better.
Bairavi alapana on the second round was not given to the violin to follow for the alapana landing just allowed a fine take off for the lyric.
The hamir kalyani explored the dhaivatha were naturally.
Vijaya shiva is a patantara singer and soukhyam is the promise and the concert kept these in tact.
Mannar koil Balaji on mridhangam was quite good while playing for the vocalist. My laya knowledge is not good to describe the vinyasam, yet it gave a feel of being bit overdone or repetitive in effect.

And Amritha Murali's Violin returns were too good. From T Rukmini's school she shone especially in Bhairavi Neraval and Raga alapana. The Madurakavi azhwar's paasuram had Arabi also I think still trying to deciper the other ragas.

Though I do not know about intricacies of Laya,I felt Sri Balaji played extremely well .In fact, being without Ghatam/khanjira,he played almost non stop.
All in all It was a connoisseur's delight .Excellent Vocal with good support from violin,Mridangham. As already pointed out an excellent mini auditorium with good acoustics
After a very long time in Bangalore,I experienced the company of a very good audience who listened with rapt attention.
The audience were in the good company of Smt Vimla Rangachar and Smt.Vyjayanti Mala 's presence. The concert was arranged by Smt Vimla Rangachar in memory of her parents.

Well laya vinyasam is an exposition of the laya artist within the thalam given to him. Addition of reminders(missed fractions) to form an integral is just one part of the exposition besides difficult and new korvais. As it was continous playing for the vocalist and violist through, and that Balaji did very well to play the correct sollus suited to the sangathi it would have been better had the viyasam was crisp than bring out all. It is a feel considering there was no saval-jawab.
Not going with a khanjira or khatam is on the vocalist. Once at Gayana Samaja Aruna Sairam after coming to the program found there was no second percussionist, insisted on one and Udupa was called and then after 45 minutes the kutcheri started. She said the khanjira was required for her to get the feel of the harmonics.
By the way Vijayanthi Bali (can sing quite well) is a student of DKP who is also the guru for Vijaya Siva.

Yes, he is indeed a dsiciple of DKJ and later DKP (DKJ's Guru).
Here DKP is common to both VS and VBali.
