The Fine Arts Society always does its events in innovative style. To the pleasant surprise of audience the curtain opened to the artists standing in front with national flag neatly pinned to their Kurta :) and National anthem being sung.

The event started with a roaring applause from the full house audience,

The brothers were amazing in full form with beautiful coordination full of energy till the end .
Amazing alaaps swaram at breakneck speed melodious singing it was truly a great concert.
Alap swaram and neraval where ever sung was perfect.Neraval for bharavi was superb

Rtp and the words were apt they said they chose the raga based on the emotions pre and post independence. To end with vande mataram was innovative.
The 24 raga tanam was followed by short round of swaram.

HN Bhaskar was consistent through out his bharavi and rtp was too good.

Thani was another gem with Mohan and Shaktidharan playing pleasant to ears no banging .
Mohan was beautifully embellishing his sons singing with pauses and sedate playing along with shaktidharan.

Through out the concert one could see the comfort level encouraging each other and applauding was pleasing to eyes.

Trichur brothers are surely brilliant performers.

Thanks to Fine Arts for bringing this event to the music lovers.

Thanks for sharing the details. Can only imagine what an amazing concert it would have been! Tri Ragas and 24 Ragas in the RTP ..how very appropriate on Independence day :-)

Very nice - thank you for the review - tri rAga AlApanai, 24 rAga tAnam to commemorate the tirangA with the 24-spoked cakra - Nice touch! I also see an abundance of tamizh songs.
Who is the composer of the maNipravALa kRti? When you say that the RTP ended with vandE mAtaram, was it Sri Bankim Chandra Chatterji's, or was it the mahAkavi's? If the former, what rAga did they sign it in (I hope it was the version in dES)?

PriyaShekar,
Can i know how long they had the RTP (exclusive of tani) just in case the tani was played after rtp?
Also in taanam did one brother sing the first raga , the second brother sing second raga then violinist played the third raga. Was it like that?
How long was the taanam . Did the taanam have mrudangam accompaniment?

Must have been one of a kind to attend 4 hours and 15 mins of this talented team , they would have sung with an absolutely free mind and they must have gone on and on atleast spinning 24 times during taanam. Mumbai is lucky.

Sorry I forgot to add they also sang Enneramum - Devagandhari before the main Yaaor ivar.

RShankar sir.
More information on RTP they announced it as 24 raga chakram which indicates the number of lines in the wheel in Flag - unique presentation.
Vandemataram was Bankim chandra's sung in Desh.

Rajeshnatsir. amazed at your passion.
Rtp had no thani.
Sri Krishna sang a raga followed by Raam.Initially Bhaskar returned for 3 ragas but as it was taking time HNB requested them to continue alternately.
Thanam dint have mridhangam accompaniment. The RTP was for about 40 Mins rounded of with swarams in the tri ragam
Another striking point was the brothers coordination .Each one taking off from where the other left be in aalaapanai or neraval or Swaram.Similarly if one brother was in high octave the other one was on lower.Seems thy practiced the art to perfection.Amazing indeed. It was a bliss to hear a cracker of a concert.

i was assuming that it was a 60 to 90 mins affair considering the concert duration. May be there were way too many ragas , I wish there was just 8 chakras in the national flag :D, I would love to hear this recording. they both have a very impressive passion.

Sinamadaiyade of the original Dhandapani desikar version is very slow paced. A very beautiful bahudari song..Glad that the brothers bring such classy pieces out of treasure troves .... wish to hear any version of the song!
