Chitravenu US patent granted

Post by uday_shankar »

Chitravenu patent got granted in the US, in a record processing time of about a year. Here’s the link to it…US Patent #8822797.

http://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?PageNum=0& ... subrahmani

Other patents including a combined wind/string instrument, which might be the final form of the chitravenu, are in the pipeline. Among other things, this is the first entirely new non-electronic musical instrument to be granted a US patent in the past several decades. It is also the first entirely new musical instrument to come out of India in several centuries.

Meanwhile, there hasn’t been a word from the Indian patent office, where this really belongs, in nearly two years . Perhaps the bureaucratic machine moves very slowly.

Uday,
Congrats.
I suggest you write directly to the HRD Minister Smriti Irani enclosing your Indian patent application and a copy of the US Patent. Ask her to hasten matters!

Perhaps you can get a great maestro play this instrument in a Parivadini webcast soon, timed with a Dec. Season slot live in Chennai.
