An excellent festival happening - today is the sixth day. Today is featuring Shankar Shanbhag and later Sangeetha Katti.
Good attendance all the days.
Great performances by Saketaraman, MS Sheela, Vinay Sharva, Parameshwara Hegde...

The performances are entirely based on compositions of Adi Shankara.

The books published of compilations of his various (simply mind-blowing ) stotras are all titled Saankara....

You can see how brilliant the composition is. Perhaps Adi Sankara is unmatched as a devotional poet in Sanskrit.

Sangeetha Katti sang this in raga Malkauns. You can try and catch the Sri Sankara a TV rebroadcasts in future.

I missed Saketaraman's concert and heard it was excellent. He sang without looking at notes! I believe he rendered Gangaashtakam in Raga Hamir Kalyani with each stanza in a different tala, to imply the way the Ganga flows down in different tempos...

The entire festival is organized under the inspiration and direct guidance of the Sankaracharya pontiff from Yedatore matha near Mysore (subsidiary of the Sringeri matha). He had chosen different stotras for each musician with suggestions on how to prepare the music. The lyrics are displayed on an LCD TV for the audience to appreciate the words as the musicians sing the lines.

Sakethraman performance was indeed laudable.His Ganga Ashtakam in HamirKalyani and a main piece on brindavana saranga with wonderfully woven neravel at " shri shyla sthala vaasini Bhagavathy.." were the highlights of the innovative Sthotra-Sangeetha concert.The concert was a feast to the ears and soul.The team gave a spirited concert without compromising on Kutcheri format.The neravel and kalpana swaras added splendour to the divine stotras.Kudos to the organisers and the team.

Sri Sankara TV and the Vedanta Bharati would hold rights. They don't have a big web presence. But there will be some You Tube uploads eventually, as I expect.
