G Ravikiran at Visesha Fine Arts - bangalore

Post by pperumal »

I braved the "bengaluru" traffic and headed to this concert in south bangalore.
when i entered the hall, he was wrapping up the neraval for shobillu. here is the list from then on - not sure if i missed anything.

1) shobillu - jaganmohini - n,s - neraval at "dhararik..."
2) lekana - asaveri
3) birana brova idhe - kalyani - tharangam(?) iyer (he announced the composer but not sure if i heard it right) (r,n,s at "nee pada pankajam") - very nice high speed neraval
4) chalamelara - margahindolam
5) sri viswanatham - ragamalika of dikshitar - amazing rendition of the kriti
6) nenarunchinanu - malavi
7) meenalochana - dhanyasi - r,n,s (i assume he sang swarams as i had to leave during his emotive neraval at "kamapalini" for fear of traffic!!!)

the accompanists were
sarvasri
vittal rangan (violin), tumkur ravisankar (mridangam) and koushik(?) (ghatam).

Ravikiran is a student of TMK and also was taught by R.K. Srikantan. I haven't heard him recently. I found him to be really good.
