The two day camp in Chennai by Shri Rama Varma, was enjoyable and enriching. Shri Varma taught the assorted group, with a lot interest and involvement and could transmit his love for music, to us the students. He kept the music flowing with his characteristic dose of delightful wit and humour. He has a tremendous knack of making the carnatic, classical music learning easy by breaking even difficult sancharas into groups of swara patterns, logically, that can be internalized and practiced. It was interesting the way he could extract the swara notation of the songs he taught from the students themselves during the lesson. This I felt brought a sense of adventure and also sharpened the swara gnanam, so essential in mastering/appreciating this fine art form. Kudos to him to offer music on a platter as it were, unrestrained, to ardent lovers of music. Many thanks to him for this great service to Carnatic music, and also to the quiet band of people working behind this beautiful venture.:ymapplause:
