Thanks to someone here - Meena, I think - I looked up the SSP now online in ibiblio.org. Now, that is one book where it is wonderfully detailed, and helps me (I think..) to understand the described rAgas.
I was wondering, would it not be great to describe the ragas we discuss in the rAgas section in a similar fashion? I know we are doing that by music; but as Akella Sharmaji pointed out, the greatness of any civilization is in documentation (sorry for the plagiarism), and it will be great if we can document the rAgas in a detailed fashion. We have vaggeyakaras and gandharvas in our group who can augment the book with their examples and details of ragas. It would be perfect for the wiki. Any ideas on that?
I also had a question. The lakshaNa gItams - mostly by Venkatamakhi - have sections named "dhruvam", "antari" and "jAvaDa".. what do those names mean?
Cheers

These are all terms refering to different pats of a prabandha. dhruva is called so, because it is a must to have it in a prabandha.ninjathegreat wrote:I also had a question. Dear brother-member, ninjathegreat, Irrespective of the plagiarism, we Indians, have to serve our community until our last breath to keep our civilization in tact. Am I not correct? Always some people are readily available to create hurdles. But, we should not and need not care. I feel so. In fact, our notation system is the earliest upon earth dating back to 15-16 centuries. Please go through ‘The Tirumala Music Inscription ‘ (Prathamopalabdha Svarasahita Sankeertana Shilalekhamu) published by T.T.D., Tirupathi. Rs.300/ - US$ 35/-. If you try hard you may get it in Tirupathi only as some important people are not interested in popularizing it by which their importance may not be high-lighted. Please try. amsharma.
