Eminent Bharata Natyam guru and senior disciple of Kittappa Pillai, Smt. S. Narmada, passed away yesterday after a massive heart attack. Though I was only with her for a short while, she inspired and encouraged me immensely. The guru-bhakti Aunty's students have for her is remarkable, and no doubt a sign of her wisdom and kindness.

She was recently presented with the SNA award by President Abdul Kalam. Truly a great soul; may she rest in peace.
