Another nice concert from a young vidwan. Like minds think alike!! You might notice some similarities between Sriranjani and Ramakrishanan's back-to-back concerts. Anyway, Ramakrishanan's voice was in great shape with a lot of confidence. The naatai krithi set the stage for the rest of the fare. Begada was succinct and the krithi was nicely rendered with niraval and swaras. The highlight of the concert was the thodi piece. The alapana was brilliant. The percussion team gave a nice and crisp thani. The pallavi was in chatusra triputa, kanda nadai in purvikalyani. Trikalam was not done in khanda nadai. instead it was executed in chatusra nadai. The azhwar pasuram was new to me and it was moving.
Overall, a day well spent at MMA!!

I attended the concert and I've heard RKM sing much better than what he performed at the academy yesterday...especially begada and thodi.

It wasn't his day. His thodi, Purvikalyani and begada did not sound like Rmkm. Rmkm'so parthasarathy swami Sabha concert was really good. His begada kalpanaswaram was really creative @ Partha.

He was in his elements for the chintamani krithi Devi brova samayam idhe
Thodi was well attempted, but not RKM standard.
Overall, he sounded very jaded and tired, despite having good accompanists.

'Jaded' suits him because he has learnt from two violinists who's techniques are equally jaded

Perhaps he might be tired after continuous concerts. The previous comment from tiruppugazh looks out of place although it is not clear whether he thinks that learning from violin players has made his music jaded.
