Meena,
The VLC player - takes mega time to load: I had clicked on the URL - nothing happened for a period, but before I could quit it, I was called away from my laptop...when I came back about 5-10 min later, audio and video were up and running...may just have something to do with too many people trying to view that video stream....

Are your speakers ON ? Is the sound card working ? Is the volume set correctly ?
If yes, the following may help,
Works for me both in Firefox (2.0.0.3) and IE (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp2_gdr.061219-0316)
with Windows Media Player (10.00.00.4036)
This is what I get when I type about:plugins at the Firefox URL prompt.
[ The highlighted dlls are from C:Program FilesWindows Media Player (on Win XP SP2)
You can copy them to C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxplugins (and then restart FF)

Thanjavur and Meena,
The above thing did not work. I did some google search.
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6644_102-0. ... ID=2416034
I got it working now. Well I did not play with the registry keys as they say in the first way. I followed the second.
