H V Srivatsan's concert follows very closely KVN's style, but with his own individualistic stamp.Perhaps he would have given a run for many present day vidwans if he were to be in Chennai.he included MDR's composition Sagara shayana. An excellent concert for 3 hours.
Thanks to gardabha_gana for the song list.B R Srinivas tried his best and rose to the occasion..

What a beautiful list! Am sure it must have been a wonderful concert. Singing Arabhi or a pancharathnam early in the concert is a sure-shot formula to its success. Unfortunately, like the other good practices, this is on the decline too.

Indeed, Arabhi has a very distinct combination of both melody and classicism. It is very welcome in the first half of the concert.

Dear All,

A beautiful Meera bhajan sung soulfully by Sri Srivatsan from the concert. Excellent accompaniment, especially by Sri B R Srinivas.

Srivatsan sang one of the popular panchrathna Kriti in Arabhi. Thus in my first concert of 2015,it marks a good begining. His neravals reminded us of Palghat K V Narayanaswamy.Raghuvara Nannu was sung very soulfully. The Keeravani raga elaboration and followed by Kriti and Tani was good. The RTP however i felt was very brief perhaps due to time.

Very classical concert by Srivatsan at the Samaja. A very well planned and executed concert with the right balance of Ragas, Composers and songs. Pantuvarali by KVN school is always very enjoyable and loved his rendition of the raga and also the not-so-often heard song. Bilahari was well rendered and so was the soulful shubhapanturvarali. The hallmark of KVN style where there is no confusion of the ragas, no repetitive phrases in the alapanas and stunning neravals stood out. Keeravani was treated very well with the classic Kaligiyunte. Dhanyasi is not heard often these days and more so as a pallavi. My gripe was that it was a little too short. The KVN classics of Kandu dhanya nade and Sagara shayana (of MDR) made it a very nostalgic and memorable evening. I just hope Srivatsan performs more often in India - he sings faithfully to the KVN style with so much maturity that it brings back memories of the legend.

Indeed a beautiful song list that too with three R N S in pantuvarali, bilahari and keeravani. To hear three neravals from neraval narayanaswami sishya would have been wonderful. I missed him this season at chennai , looking forward to hear Srivatsan.
