So, I was watching this clip and was struck by a couple of statements that were made by the dancer in this clip Ms. Aranyani Bhargav - the first is her description of nI uRaippAi hanuManE as being from kamba rAmAyaNa (2:22 - 3:18), but the part that really shocked me was when she describes the sAya rakshai kRti, mugattai kATTi 25:00 to 26:30) as the expereince of a dalit coming to the temple, and catching only a glimpse of Siva's earing!
Now, does this come under creative re-interprettation of classic pieces, or that word that Nick dreads, re-purposing of older compositions? Or (as I suspect, and to 'mis-purpose'/mis-quote Professor Mcgonagall) is this 'sheer dumbness'? If it is the latter, then don't people have a responsibility (when they make a documentary) to check their facts, or is it acceptable to 'mouth off' - i.e., say what you think is true, whether or not it is?

Ravi,
Sounds like some tour guides' 'gapsA's (a word for made up things in our times which may still be in usage). A shame, indeed
