S.AIshwarya at Gokhale Instiute 18th Jan 2015

Post by anandhs07 »

It was such a wonderful moment for me to get the blessings from Smt Radha Viswanathan amma, daughter of MS Amma....

A wonderful evening with an excellent team of musicians, a carnatic music concert by S.Aishwarya, great grand daughter of Sangita Saraswathi Smt M S Subbalakshmi accompanied by Vidushi Anuthama Murali on the Violin, Vidushi Sukanya Ramgopal on the Ghatam, Vidushi Bhagyalakshmi M Krishna on the Morsing and Vidwan Phanidra on the Mridangam.

Rama nee samanamevaru in Kharaharapriya and Meenakshi Memudam in Purvikalyani were the main items of the concert. Both the neravals and swaras were excellent.

A vibrant Thani enriched the beauty of the concert, especially Ghatam, what a playing by Sukanya mam, Mam you are the best!!!

Kurai ondrum illai, Bhvayami gopalabalam, Maithreem bhajata and a Meera bhajan in typical MS style were excellent.

Vatapi ganapathim, Gopalaka pahimam were other items of the concert which were also awesome..

A DVG composition, I think it is from "Anthappura Geetegalu" and a Masti Venkatesha Iyengar compositions were very beautiful especially that Sindhubhairavi was soooperb....

Thanks to Masti institute an Gokhale institute for organising such a beautiful concert....

The function began with the members of the Maasti family and Gokhale Institute honouring Smt Radha Viswanathan with a shawl and memento. The hall was packed with music lovers and additional seating arrangements had to made outside with a huge LCD TV relaying the concert live

Vathapi Ganapathim provided a spectacular start with Aishwarya in full flow as sangathi after sangathi flowed from her voice – each one chiselled to perfection. Gopalaka Pahimam was rendered in a slower Kalapramanam and was so moving. As Aishwarya stood on “Bhujagaraja Shayana” – it was a moment of pure bliss.

Ragam in Kharaharapriya was just too good and the audience just loved it. A pitch perfect Aishwarya when she moves to the mel sthayi madhyamam and Gandharam is a treat for the ears. Neraval and swarams were done in detail

Yaduvamsha composed by DVG was enjoyable and the virutam in Desh was pristine

Meenakshi Me Mudam was the main piece and the Poorvi Kalyani ragam was outstanding. The neraval in Madhurapuri Nilayae had many in tears as Aishwarya brought the Goddess Meenakshi in front of our eyes. A truly soulful performance

Nanege Badavanu, Baaro Ranga , Bhavayami , Kurai Onrum Illai and Maithreem Bhajatha completed the musical feast.

As Sri Ramabhadra Iyengar rose to give a short vote of thanks before the Mangalam, many from the audience got up from their seats to exclaim that this was a truly unbelievable concert and they were glad that the legacy of MS is in safe hands. A standing ovation after the almost 3 hour concert completed the memorable evening in which we were transported to a different world.

Anuthama Murali gave excellent support and the audience appreciated her with generous applause. The percussion support provided by Sri Phanindra Bhaskar, Smt Sukanya and Smt Bhagyalakshmi took the concert to great heights. The taniavartanam which was lasted almost 25 minutes was most entertaining and had the audience spell bound in their seats.
