My first concert in 2015 and also after nearly 2+ months first one. Having moved out of Bangalore due to work, missed the whole December season (not sure when I missed that last). Came home for a long weekend was happy to attend this.

Braving all odds (traffic snarls, busy bazaar, drilling work going on behind the stage at west park road etc) Gayathri tried to put a brave face to present this concert. Not her best I must say but she did well in Varali and main Karaharapriya. Rangan had issue with one of the string at the end of Varnam and she did not wait for him to change over started dinamani vamsa. Rangan could join end of 2nd charanam.

The first alapana Varali was presented well. When she started reethi gowla alapana, my mother quipped this might be a SS composition since she has sung two of Saint and Dikshithar already. Rightly she sung mAmava MEnAkshi. krupajUDa samayamammA was refreshing and post concert went and asked her about the same. Its by her guru Smt Suguna Purushothaman in hamsalathika. First time for me.

Crisp thani from Renuka Prasad and Gururaj. Vittal Rangan was at his best in Varali and karaharapriya swaras.

It was inexplicable that Mridangist was not playing to the vocalist during the neraval and swaram throughout the concert.. He allowed the Morsing vidwan to play :-((

End of it, this concert didnt worked for me (purely personal opinion) but some music after a long time.

Hopefully I should make it up during the Sivarathri concerts at Chakkamkulangara siva temple at Tirupunithura next month :-))

I also caught up with K Gayathri's during my bengaluru visit. No doubt this lady has potential and has got considerable experience now. It is evident in her handling big items like Chakkani Raaja. Selection of songs is excellent. My personal opinion is her music has command but lacks in melody for some reason. I had liked her music a few years back in Chennai. I see no great improvement now in terms of soukhyam.

Vidushi Sugunamma's compositions were unique and enjoyable. Gayatri does total justice to them always. She is definitely a lady with solid music.
