TVS started the concert @6.50 p.m after waiting for HNB patiently.when the curtains rose we eagerly looked for the violinist who was not there but.Rather TVS announced that he would start the concert as he didn't want to keep us waiting and added that probably it is the almighty's design to conduct the concert in this way.

The concert opened with a small virutham that TVs himself has composed in praise of saint T and proceeded further.

TVS was in his elements and to listen without violin support was in itself a different experience.I imagined that the father & son will practise at home this way only when they were singing in tandem.mahAdEvan was excellent.All the rAgA AlAps were a lesson in manOdharma sangeetham.I spotted a few youngsters.They would have really gained.I have mentioned mini R to show that they were more than short sketches but went straight to the kriti without violin return.

RKSRK gave v.g.support and his khamAs was class.Patri brought in a lot of variations in his playing with deft thoppi playing and above all he himself was enjoying the concert jut like us.ramaNi too gave excellent support.

Thanks for the review. TVS excels at virutham singing. Was this a Thygaraja special in some way or did TVS just make it so?

Yes. It was THyagaraja aradhana celebrations in NGS.

Sri. TVS's Panthuvarali is bound to have been excellent. I am not normally a great fan of sankarabharanam. But the only GREAT sankarabharanam I have ever heard is from SRI. TVS. It is something that people should learn from him.

Agree about Mahadevan. He is very good. Voice,especially is sweet. Was he given the chance to sing any raga by himself. He normally excels in it.

mahAdEvan didn't sing any rAgam this time.TVS did it all himself.but he had abundant chance in neraval and svaram.esp.most of s'bharaNam svarams were sung by mahAdEvan upto finishing.If only he learns to present items that TVS don't bother about like varNam,tillAnA,bhajan and also take up a variety of rAgams he will soon become a much sought after musician.
