Model Raga Alapanas Series by Chitravina N Ravikiran
Organized by Acharyanet.com & Madhuradwhani at Arkay Convention Center, Mylapore recently.

Indian music is raga-music. "Whole careers have been made and sustained by many legends because of their ability to render even short but outstanding expositions of alapanas of ragas like Yadukulakambhodhi, Nayaki, Ahiri, Anandabhairavi," says Ravikiran. "It is very essential for students to grasp the life-points and notes of ragas clearly, early in their musical journey. A student's grasp of the nuances of raga will percolate over to rendition of compositions as well as neraval, kalpana-swaras etc".

This series covers a few well-known as well as rare ghana, rakti and ranjaka ragas with practical tips on how to open, develop, build up and wind down around key phrases and notes so that the essential features of the raga are brought out clearly and beautifully.
