What a kutcheri! Singing with self-enjoyment and devotion, simultaneously enthralling the rasikas as well, Sri Pattabirama Pandit rendered a splendid concert. Praising the accompanying artises alongside for each and every minute-fine return, It was just gleeful! I went in, when the varnam was about to end. The mood was set right from the beginning, Whether it was the fast numbers such as kritis #3, #4 r #7, or the medium-pace ‘varanarada’ or the slow moving- soft ‘Annapurne Visalakshi’ or the rapid ‘koti nadulu’. When khambhoji alapana began, I started wondering whether he was going to repeat the same kriti that he sang last time in 2011, here in this sabha. No,it was a different one. Tukkada numbers #10 to # 13 were a nice dessert. Young Peri Thyagaraju, offered excellent violin support; so were the two percussionists, DSRM and Satish. I particularly enjoyed the kanjira-playing, the artiste in his middle-age, whom we were seeing him for the 1st time. PP singing was full of energy, abundant with gamakams, which was very enjoyable. Next day, several rasikas were reminiscing the previous day’s wonderful treat.
