On seeing this announcement when I pointed out to a Retd. Professor and Head of the Department in Indian Music that methods in teaching are learning our music are not included in this seminar he expressed that he presumes that the organisers think that 'teaching' and 'learning' does not come under 'science of music'. I feel that science means knowledge and by this now we must feel that there is no science at all in the methods of teaching or learning our music. Very nice indeed! amsharma

MSAkella garu,

One more instance of misunderstanding. Science means 1."the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment." 2. "a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject." Please convey to the Professor you have discussed about this.
Indian Classical Music, in particular Karnataka Sangeetham, with Lakshya and Lakshana established are the outcome of 1.intellectual 2. Practical 3. Systematic study (western research and study should not be the basis) 3. Leaving aside, metaphysical content, it has physical matters 4. KM written works have evidence of observation and also experiment 4.KM also contains systematically organized body of knowledge on particular subjects.
In the exploration of Science of Music with its relationship to the other scientific research and studies-Theoretical Physics;Neurology;Psychiatry;General Medicine, it is absolutely wrong to exclude 'Teaching' and 'Learning', both related to all the other sciences aforementioned.
The remedy is only through a presentation of paper by you, a Scholar or Scholars like you.

Dear brother-member, muniraogaru,

All these musicians are surviving fully depending upon the society for each and everything posing as Gurus to their disciples. But, as a professional-teacher when I have very openly pointed out in many of my articles that all their methods in teaching are full of illogicalities and irrationalities making more harm than help to our kids they must come out and prove my statements wrong in any open discussion. But, due to their egoistic problems they all are unable to do so and, at the same time, even our so called knowledgeable people and institutions also have become inactive in this respect. Thus, while all are shamefully continuing their harmful acts towards our own kids in this respect I do not and need not have any interest in taking any other remedial measures as they never truly help our kids in saving their interests in learning our music.

However, we, as a team of workers in our very limited area at Secunderabad, have been able to do the needful in saving our kids from these harmful acts. amsharma
