Concert resembled a brisk T20 kind of match for 2.5 hrs right after a heavy downpour in Bangalore. It almost resembled that Varuna did not want any disturbance on the road around the hall. Pin drop silence all through ensured a pristine ambience for the rAga and tALa pravAha that followed and inundated the audience minds.
Kudos to the team. A well deserved standing ovation to the whole team at the end of the concert indicated the quality of the concert.

Test matches are not the order of the day.Similarly pure classicism and keeping normal volume is not appreciated.Loud music and T20 type of music gets standing ovation for artists. There seems to be great appreciation for fast rendering of Kritis in high volume.

The sad part is super talented musicians who have churned out test match music in the past have resorted to playing T20.

Comparing GK's concert with T20 match may not be appropriate. After all it is not a shortened form of concert; they played for about 2 1/2 hours conforming to the standard katchery format. I would say it is comparable to a Test match with Schewag & Tendulkar playing at their best amassing runs thro brilliant stroke play without mistiming the shots or resorting to tentative ungainly defensive prods. GK's violin playing is appreciated all over the world for their technique and musical purity. They always adhere to sruthi suddham and they possess mastery over the layam. Their manodharmam is outstanding and the rendering is full of bhavam. The packed audience for their concerts in contrast to the sparsely filled music halls even for many top grade artists we normally witness tells the tale.

Sorry my comment was not directed at any artist in particular but against a trend. Definitely just like t20 attracts more crowd and money than a test match so does music these days. If an MDR were to sing today, crowd would be sparse IMO.

Regarding my comparison.. the discussion as taken an unintended course.
The usual duration of concerts at RSM is 3 hrs, and this was a 2.5 hr concert.
Well after a heavy downpour and an extended previous pratibhAkAnkshi puraskAra program, this program got truncated into a 2.5 hr concert. The best of music was served in the time available for disposal. There were many shabhAsh moments, where audience too joined their hands in appreciating the artists.
The T20 comparison was only for the truncation and was not to speak about the masala associated with it.
Let's focus back on the music part in this discussion.

Sri Badari,
These days there is a high tendency to raise the volume and i know for sure in one of the Instrumental concerts last week,it was extremely unbearable for me.Yes I do belong to the old school and will not support music without melody, however grammatically correctly played.I agree about the skill part regarding mastery over the instrument. This forum is free to discuss and as such no admonition is required from any one.
