I am a resident of Irinjalakuda and am happy to report on this concert by S.Aishwarya.
The venue at Shri Koodalmanikyam Temple was fully packed and one could see the local biggies in the front rows. Thanks to the rich cultural heritage, propelled by Unnayi Warrier Smaraka Kalanilayam – School for Kathakali and Temple Fine Arts.
S.Aishwarya gave a perfect recital of varnam to start with. During Meru Samaana VV Ravi was especially impeccable during this piece. One could see his accurate anticipation during the swaras.
Raghuvamsa Sudha and Hari Hara Puthram were rendered in chaste MSS style by Aishwarya.
Bhogindra Shayinam was a cracker of a performance and Sivaramakrishnan on ghatam in particular gave excellent support.
Kharaharapriya aalapanai was at its best when Aishwarya executed some excellent ‘akaarams’. Pakkala Nilabadi was sung with traditional paathantharam and ending swara patterns were carried out to perfection. VV Ravi’s responses to the
swarams were excellent too.
Thani – B Sivaraman began with the Traditional TKM Korvai and transitioned to Tisram. Both percussionists wound up a brief thani.
RTP – To sing and perfectly execute a difficult RTP with confidence at this young age really requires steel nerves.
Aishwarya has done exactly the same. The tisram and trikaalam was perfect. Behag during the Ragamalika was very
moving.
Time factor seems to have forced Aishwarya to cut down on some of the more popular items of MSS. However, that did not stop people from commenting that the she is going to be on top in the not too distant future. “After all she is a kid and she has lot of time…” to quote a senior vidwan.
