Oh muttu muruga, my lord (ayyanE), the true one (meyyanE), please admit me (enai) to your divine grace (ATkoL)!

1: sheyyanE nin ishai dikkengum paravattakka vAkkanugrahittuccittu muttu murug-
Oh just one (seyyanE), it will be appropriate (uccittu) if you show your favor (anugrahittu) so that your (nin) song (isai) is good enough (takka) to spread (parava) in all directions (dikkengum), (Oh muttu muruga)!

2: candamighunda kanda gAnAmudam tA brahmAnandak-kanda shonda murug-
This set of compositions, called the kanda gAnAmudam [1], that is replete (migunda) with beautiful musical flow and rhythmic movement of verse (candam) that is in a specific meter (kanda) that grants bliss (brahmAnanda) is your unique property (sonda), (Oh muttu muruga)!

3: konkulAm kavi kunjradAsan anjcorkkaruL aindaru guru tiru murug-
(Oh muttu muruga), you are like the five wish-granting trees (aintaru) [2], my preceptor (guru), who has granted (aruL) me, the slave (dAsan) of the poet (kavi) called kunjara [1] from the land of kongu (kongulAm) [3], the capacity to create beautiful words (anjcor) [4]!

[1] This refers to corpus of kRtis in each of the melakarta rAga that were composed by Sri Koteesvara Ayyar, who was brought up by his maternal grandfather, Kavi Kunjara Bharati, all on muruga, all with the rAga mudra in the lyrics, that was called the nectar (amudam) of music (gAna) on muruga (kanda) – kanda gAnAmudam
