After quite a gap, visited parivadini channel today and there the link was for Brinda's concert today @ Naada Inbam referred to in http://rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=25611

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RImkreXL-QY

B Ananthakrishnan violin,Guru Raghavendra mridangam, H Ramakrishnan ghatam

so far varnam in nAttai (Vadivelu), sundari ninnu in Arabhi (T), thiruvAdirai darisanathukku in dhanyAsi (GKB http://translationsofsomesongsofcarntic ... irkku.html), amma rAvamma in kalyAni (T) and now sri kamalAmbikayah in punnAgavarALi (MD). To listen to the rest yet.

Good one so far, except for kalyani, haven't heard the other 4 in concert circuit so far. bOdhinyAH and yOginyAH are pronounced bOdhinyAHa and yoginyAHa, to be avoided.

Had high expectations about the artist after a couple of people here in rasikas mentioned her name along with Suguna Varadhachari maami. Was greatly disappointed. Abaswaras in a lot of places. Lack of practice is evident. Lot of repetition in raga alapana. Only good aspect of the concert was the not oft heard kritis. It looks like she takes efforts to learn new kritis. The same kind of efforts, if not more, needs to go into manodharma singing. Has a long way to go.

I beg to differ. I grant you that the execution had flaws here and there but to me they just made her singing more real. I feel that her manodharma is really fresh and it permeates all of her singing. The accompanists provided excellent support while enjoying her music.

aruLseyya vEndumayya in rasikapriyA (KI), AnjanEyA in sAveri (ST), virutham (mOhanam, mukhAri, nAttaikurinji, rEvati?) followed by thUdhu solvAi anumAnE (rAgamAlikai) & mangaLam (pavamAna). Virutham singing was very good IMO.
