Re: Violin Solo homage concert by Dr.M.Narmadha at Ragasudha hall this evening 6.15pm
AN EXCELLENT TRIBUTE TO MSG'S MEMORY AT THE APPROPRIATE LOCATION-RAGA SUDHA HALL- with perfect acoustics and SABHA NADOPASANA where MSG PLAYED MANY OF HIS BEST CONCERTS.....I was STRUCK BY THE PERFECT rendering of not just the music but for the first time felt SOME ONE in my 65 years of LISTENING to MSG has managed to reproduce the PERFECTION of not just the musical content but TECHNICALLY the swaras, swarsthanam and the the purity of the NOTES rendered matched that of the immortal MSG. I actually WENT BACK TO MY M.S.G. COLLECTIONS TO CONFIRM THAT NARMADHA HAD PULLED THIS OFF! A VERY RARE FEAT& ACHEIVEMENT! CONGRAGULATIONS TO Narmadha.....
I wish to comment on just two pieces. In addition to maintaining the unique contribution of the Parur style her rendering of Appa Rama bhakthi brought back the MMI-Mysore T.Chowdiah(with Palani) rendering as well as the many renderings of ARI. MMI'S rendering of Kandan Karunai was inspired when he heard Veena Madhura Madhura (in the movie Rama Rajyam in HINDI) & DKP REQUESTED Papanasam Sivan to compose a song-BRINDAVANATHIL was what he composed on Krishna in one evening!- when she heard this song!...AN IMMORTAL CONTRIBUTION BY THE THREE: MMI, DKP& SIVAN & Narmadha PLAYED it perfectly...A fitting concert for the occasion...Congrgulations. VKV

Thanks dear CACM for this brilliant review.Well said.
Dr.Narmadha's music is very Divine.
Dr.Narmadha in her whirlwind tour of US in Spring April 2015 performed 25 concerts in 35 days.
Dr.Narmadha ,the worthy daughter of the legendary MSG has dedicated her life for violin and this recent solo after she returned from US is a beautiful proof of her mettle and mastery and a scintillating Tribute to her trendsetter violinist father MSGopalakrishnan. That she performed @ Nadopasana, where her father performed innumerable concerts is one more feather to her cap and worthy of attention.
In this 2.20hour melodic journey, Dr.Narmadha took us to an immortal world of soulful music at its peak.
Varnam followed by SiddhiVinayakam in Shanmukhapriya conveyed the essence of this pleasant evening mood.
The surprise Nijamarmamulanu in Umabharanam had the typical Madurai Mani Iyer flavour.
She announced that she choose every raaga that were the Heritage ragas of the Parur MSG style.
Pantuvarali in full grace and subtle pauses and Kuzhaloodi in Kambhoji were the top Highlights and convinced every Srota on her total felicitous expressions soaked in Bhakthi.
Here are some photos:

Ramesh Shrinivasan with his pleasant beats played a brilliant Tani in Kuzhaloodi ably supported by Krishna on the Ghatam.
The Mridangam Maestro TVGopalakrishnan who sat through the concert, took up the mic and praised Narmadha on her extraordinary talent and total reverence to the MSG style.
TVGOPALAKRISHNAN said that it was not easy to perform the ParurMSG style and he had heard Narmadha from her very young age who practised very hard and today she is a very versatile violinist.
Kandan Karunai brought nostalgic memories of Mani Iyer and Dr.Narmadha"s rendition of Bhimpalasi was full of Hindustani Andolan and the peacock dancing grace was portrayed by her in every phrase of Kandan Karunai of Guhan.
The usual mesmerising Tarana in SindhuBhairavi took me to Punjab and Govinda Ninna Naama in Jana Sammodhini was a quick contrast.
The good crowd turn out was a great sight to watch with the tremendous audience response.
Being very close to the centenary celebrations of MS Subbulakshmi,Dr Narmadha rendered Kattrinile varum gitam and the concert concluded with Mangalam.

Even as I drove back,I found myself murmuring Kandan Karunai.
This concert will be evergreen in my memory in the years to come.
