Sri Muni Rao - congratulations for pulling this off! As they say, actions speak louder than words. It great to see that while others talk, debate, agrue, and even resort to mud-slinging at times, you have organized this quietly, with no fuss. May your tribe increase.

Best wishes on a hugely successful demonstration, and a very civil and productive debate later on!

Best wishes for a successful event. Hope everyone gets filled to the brim with great ideas and excitement that Akellaji's learning program typically evokes. I am calling it a 'learning program' rather than a 'teaching program' because the students are encouraged to learn by themselves with the teachers' role recast as one of a guide to nudge and direct the student along the right pathways.

it is quite impressive to see all these kids reciting complicated sollus with that much ease without getting tripped up by all that syncopation. In a way, with such focus on laya in the early stages, Akellaji's method makes music students and not just carnatic music students.

All the best.

" Dear Rao,
I was feeling sorry for having not attended the program as we had to go to Belur for a pooja. You were kind enough to share the video recording. I hope in due course I will be able to see part 2 of the program also. I am really amazed at the method and the live demonstration who acquired this much panditya in less than one year. In fact I am tempted to ask you to find out whether there is anybody here who could teach me in this method.
I thank you once again."

Mr Munirao
I have an expert musician friend who is a perfectionist. He told me that he watched the video and felt there are many technical and teaching advantages of this method.

Of course we also both agreed that musical excellence hinges on creativity, inherent musicality and rhe right attitude in the student. These factors were once developed by direct guifance of a guru. They may be developed also in some alternatuve ways which I don't know. When augmented by more scientific teaching methods, a music student will surely go a long way!

RSachi Sir,

Thanks for the observation and feedback.

Technology helps and supports for documenting and documenting enables the students and the rasikas (even the practitioners, who are unwilling to openly support) to watch, understand, get interested to pursue for learning. Shri Akella Sharma did the tapasya (we understand it better as research) and meticulously and studiously worked out and offered 'AMS EASY METHODS'. Shri Akella has recorded and uploaded 800+ videos in youtube.com for all the students to learn with minimum guidance and mentoring. This great innovation in KM Music Education has not received the attention, understanding and recognition it truly merits by the KM practitioners-teachers, performers and scholars.
Great Maestro Shri Akella relentlessly working to make this system and methods to be known through private gatherings, lecture and demonstrations to the interested practitioners. I was lucky and had the privilege of attending his lecture and demonstration few years back in Chennai in rasikas.org meet. I studied the systems and methods later making comparative analysis of this systems and methods with the well established systems and methods. I was delighted to find 'AMS EASY METHODS' was based on Sampradaya but innovative 're creation' in making the learning simple and great from its complexity. Only the strong foundation of kalpita sangeetha gnanam/knowledge enables kalpana and manodharma to get insights and re create (variants of the original with value). Very few great maestro practitioners will be enabled to create, the original, anew and afresh with the immense strength of knowledge and practice of manodharma. 'AMS EASY METHODS' will improvise the manodharma tools- raga alaapna; tana; patanthara purity of compositions; niraval; pallavi ; svarakalpana/prastara on the established sampradaya systems and methods. The process economizing on the time, efforts and financial costs.
I observed that even the practitioners with high profficiency in performing and teaching need clarity and understanding on 'AMS EASY METHODS'. How does it enables the creativity or manodharma, the hallmark of Indian Classical Music-Karnataka Sangeetham, in particular ?
1. Raaga Aalaapana; Tana; Patanthara purity of compositions; Niraval;Pallavi: With acquired skills in notating Svara sthanas - pure note, kampita and gamakams (selected and given exercises) and notating the recordings and live performances of Great Maestros/Maestros, bench marked for excellence.
2. Svarakalpana/prastara: With acquired skills in Svaras-plain;janti;dhatu and Svara sthanas (selected and given exercises); tala and laya/gathi/kalapramanam (selected and given exercises).
Acquired skills and practice of delivery based on the strong foundation of kalpita sangeetham results in efficiency above the average levels. The confidence gained in delivery permits higher forays in to imagination, ideas and determination resulting in kalpana of re creativity.

RSachi Sir,

I failed to mention that this method enabling 'self learning' as its core strength, the role of teacher is of motivator, guide and mentor. But critical and can not be dispensed with. Fact is many Great Maestros and Maestros acquired skills mainly through observation, reproduction and repetitions of their gurus renderings-all mostly 'self learning'. Rarely through total, complete and altruistic role playing by Guru (s). Inherent natural talent aids and hastens but only sadhana empowers (role of Guru is restricted to being a guide and mentor in this state)

Even though I have made it very clear in my Lec-dem that, in twice-a-week-music-class held on land-telephone, while initiating my great-grand-daughter, Chi. Padmaja, residing at Bangalore and my self residing at Hyderabad, I did never sing for more than 1% (18 seconds in a 30 mts. class) in any of the music-classes but properly initiated her to very regularly practice for two hours up to Gitas on her own independently relying mostly upon the Keyboard and Metronome. Later, from Varnas, as per the schedule, had she regularly practiced for 4 hours daily she would have certainly become able to sing both Swarakalpana and brief Ragalapana too in this Lec-dem on 08-08-2015. But, as a school going kid and in the absence of any family back ground and environment in music, as she could not practice for more than two-and-half hours daily, she took six more months to sing brief Ragalapana. In respect of my another disciple, Chi. Shreenidhi, grand-daughter of Shri S.Nageshwaran, as her mother sings well, with her family background and environment in music in Chennai, she became able to sing both Swarakalpana and Ragalapana too in the Rasikas-meet, 2011 at Chennai learning independently hardly within the span of only one year.

While the total, complete and altruistic role of the so called GURU in the traditional system is making the poor aspirant solely dependent upon the teacher, this novel system is making him/her work independently with self-confidence even in the absence of the teacher and learn things very quickly and efficiently basing upon his/her own instinctive abilities. In this system the teacher should not sing at all for more than 1% but properly initiates the aspirant work independently and learn things for more than 99% on his/her own.

While this is the most crucial point of this system none of the participants of the panel-discussion took this point into cognizance or asked me any clarifications even though I am seated just before them in the audience as none of them is ever used to this kind of process of learning of the aspirant. amsharma
