After moving out of Bangalore in last one year my first concert and cant complain it was Sanjay's.
Good things that the Audi and the acoustics were nice. No MikeAsura,no customary speech and with Sanjay its always on the dot 6 PM the start
Downside with near full house lot of mobile ringingings throughout the concert, constant humming
As one of my friend quipped Sanjay is one Vidwan who can give a full concert without trinity composition and how true
looking at his vast repertoire. The interesting mix of composers, krithis, ragAs.
Kamala Manohari a brief alapana followed by the early power play krithi of Narasimhudu. nanu viDachi is my personal favorite being
an ardent Sri Rama devotee. He delivered this with full of bhakthi. My day was done !!
kanakAngi alapana was very good and he just announced as there were some guessing going on the initial phrases. While he started
kalyAni alapana he quickly chirped'idhu kalyAni dhaan" aroused a small laughter around.
The kalyAni alapana was grand and built meticulously. Varadu, the ever willing warhorse, returning everything thrown at him
'with gift wrapped'. It was a nice duel.
The tani by Venkatesh & Radhakrishnan was surprisingly short and crisp.
I could get devamanohari early where he did a brief alapana and tAnam was also of low key so where will he pack his punch ? Wait
the swara raga maalika he did was simply amazing. Traversing seamlessly between the ragas at ease with Varadu returning it without
any fuss. The 10+ min swara raga malika phase was simply brilliant and when he culminated with Sindhu Bhairavi there was standing
ovation.
Well good 3 hour concert and nearly a year in exile I could break this. Looking forward to catch him at Kottayam,Navarathri
Mandapam again in Cbe sometime in November if things go well.
