The young brigade delivered a grand concert today.
I am not much inclined to instruments except violin. My flute kutcheri days were in Srirangam
early 80s where Dr Ramani was regular. To some extent due to my mother's penchant I used to hear
Sikkil Sisters. Else havent heard any flautist for last 2+ decades. Jayanth was introduced to
me by a good friend of mine and in last 3 years I could see he has grown up in stature.
Last I heard him in June at Kalavanta Series at Bangalore. He played out a crisp and lovely concert
today.
Varamu was refreshing as there was too many reethi gowlas,begadas and other priya ragams for last
10 days. 4th begada I wasnt complaining though
sArAnga alapana was good. The best he reservedfor kAnaDA. What a soulful alapana it was. Anantha Krishnan was adept in returns and the
kalapana swaras were well appreciated by decent audience for this early evening concert.
Tanjore Praveen, grandson of Tanjore Upendran played out a crisp tani along with Karthick.
Good note to end this short series as I was starving for concerts from last December.
