Neela Ramgopal - Release of Biography

On 8th November 2015 Sunday at 10 AM, Nadasurabhi held a special function with three objectives.

1. Felicitate and honour Vidushi Neela Ramgopal with the Title of Sangeetha Surabhi for 2015. Felicitation speech was given by Dr.Raghavendra of Ananya. The award carries an engraved plaque carrying the artists picture and a purse.

2. The Biography of the Vidushi titled "Neela Ramgopal - A Musical Journey" written by the General Secretary of Nadasurabhi Smt.Harini Raghavan was released. It was released by Sri.Krishna Prasad of SRLKM. There are a few complimentary copies of the book available for distribution. Rasikas desirous of getting a copy may kindly send a request by email with your particulars to - nadasurabhi at yahoo dot co dot uk. Copy can be picked up at a mutually convenient time.

3. A concert by Smt. Neela Ramgopal.

All the above three went off satisfactorily.

I was privileged to attend this award function and excellent concert of 'Nada Surabhi' Smt.Neela Ramgopal. Mami fully justified the recognition of Nada Surabhi- meaning Beauty; fragrance; sacred; sowbhagyam (Goddess Lakshmi Devi) with the qualities and values in her music presented. Except for occasional'huskiness' in voice, the spirit and energy was age defying. Her fine musical outlook bears deep classicism (raga alapanas with phrases and moorchanas), very wide repertoire and appreciation of MLV amma's flights of imagination (niraval, svarakalpana and Kurinji scale grahabhedam) in seamless weave of rasa and bhava. All the accompanists played with dignity fitting the solemnity of the occasion and reflected their respect to this great artist.

Our thanks and gratitude to the Team of Nada Surabhi and also specifically, Vidu.Smt.Harini Raghavan for the book.

happy to hear about the book on vidushi... We are glad that we are able to hear MLV and DKP type music live these days... Mami's music is a blend of MLV, DKP music...
