The following is from the book A Dictionary of Bharatanatya bu U.S.Krishna Rao.

tANDava: tANDava is a powerful and virile dance; the opposite of lAsya. Originally supposed to have been performed by Tandu (Shiva’s attendant), though Shiva is considered the supreme master of this dance. Shaivaite literature delineates t types of tANDava – Ananda 9nAdAnta), sandhyA (performed in the evening under the banyan tree), umA (with Uma), gauri (with Gauri), kalikA (slaying of the demons of evil and ignorance), tripurA (slaying of the demon) and samhAra ( destruction). Agastya mentions 108 in the Bharata Sutra, the 12 important ones being Ananda, sandhyA, shringArA, tripurA, udhvA, muni, samhArA, urgavA, bhUta, praLaya, bhujanga, shuddha. A powerful aDavu performed by bending the body and legs

lAsya: lAsya is a graceful dance, generally with shringArA as the dominant rasA. The opposite of tANDava which is majestic and powerful.
