song list will follow later, but what a concert? It was really a nadha inbam in ragha sudha hall. One after another, inbam (pleasure) all the way... easily the best concert of the season for me... alapanas were lathangi (a rare dikshitar keerthana), shyama /sama (shantamu leka) and todi (bharati mamava)... sama was the pick, so beautifully sung (the way gamakas, plain notes were sung !! ) ... todi was golden classical all the way...

surprise, surprise.... srimushnam raja rao sir was very subdued to contrary, and was greatly supporting the music of brothers in a such a soft manner, it was such a joy to listen, all the way, including thani...

Unfortunately, brothers are not singing anywhere else, they are singing again in same venue on 9th Jan 2016, Saturday... yarukku thaan theriyum, avar mahimai...... fits well to the siblings...

concert was decently attending, easlily 70+... spotted couple of members, bharath was one of them... happy to see a friend from kerala who has come for a 2 week trip, and he is a regular visitor in December... exchanged notes with him briefly about this concert, and we had same things to say....

Thanks.Their music isn't easy to come by, but how agreeable it is! Their scholarship runs like a quiet stream all along as they sing. No fuss or any overt display of their erudition. High time I heard them again. Hope I get a chance...

PS. Glad to hear that there was a sizeable crowd for this program. Too many conflicts. Maybe I will clone a few more Harimaus from the DNA from the fang that was removed.

Rudrapatnam Brothers deserve better recognition.Unfortunately neither Chennai or Bangalore recognise the sublime music rendered by the brothers.

I never missed any opportunity to listen to the brothers' concerts.I have attended once in CMANA in NJ and twice in December seasons in Madras a few years ago (Krishna Gana Sabha ?).
It is my understanding that carnatic concerts are secondary to their other chosen professions and hence we do not come across many of their programs. If I memory is correct, one is a physicist and the other a Mathematician.
Since I had to cancel my December trip to India, I see that I have missed many good programs !

Atthai and Chithappa may be the same but not Chithappa and mama!

Having missed all the inaugurations (and the mangala Isai Nagaswaram programs), Team Harimau is bent upon covering as many veena concerts as possible. All plucked, stringed instruments fall under the category Veena and thus includes guitar, piano, Hawaaiian slide guitar (aka el chitraveena Nuevo) and anything else you can think of. Already attended one veena program today and going to another this afternoon. Attended several regular veena programs until now.

Something has to be sacrificed, even a classic Rudrapatnam Brothers concert, for the sake of the veena. As well as other instruments.

I was told there is a video of the concert. I will have to grab a copy.

Rudrapatnam brothers have always been widely recognized by the connoisseurs in bangalore. I don't think their following has diminished. I have listened to them since I was a kid. Thrilled to know they have a following in madras too....Note they don't belong to the "popular" stream - they never were....
