The concert of Gayathri Girish accompanied by M.R.Gopinath on the Violin, Akshay Ram on the Mridangam and Madipakam Murali on the Ghatam was held under the aegis of Laya Lavanya Fine Arts Foundation- founded by Maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman. Prior to the concert, four vidwans viz, Chenda vidwan Mattannur Sankaran Kutty Marar (his son Srikanth received the honours on behalf of his father), A.Kanyakumari, R.Sankaranarayanan and Madipakam Murali were honoured with cash awards followed by the concert of Gayathri Girish. The concert started at 7.00 PM. List of songs.

The concert had a solid start with the kriti of MD in Gowla. Sufficient doses of kalpana swaras at the pallavi brought liveliness to the concert. Dinamanivamsa as the second number brought an old world charm to the concert. Many yester year greats like SSI, DKP, MS, Alathur etc used to take up this song as the no 2. Harikambodi at the early period of the concert brings weight to the concert. Two Raga alapanas – Mukhari and Kalyani were presented with intricate details- bringing out the whole picture of the ragam through the choicest phrases rich in aesthetics and manodharmam. The neraval at Kanulara sevinchi for the Mukhari kriti and the following swaras in two kalams were a treat in itself. The kriti in Natakurinji was new to me. She had presented this song in an earlier Lec Dem concert on Pre Trinity Composers. At that time RSachi had posted that these songs should find place in the main stream concerts. I am thankful to GG for keeping that in mind and including this song in this concert.

Kamalambam bhajare was presented with strict adherence to the authentic patantharam. She presented chittaswaram for the song- TNS also used to sing this. She said that it is given in SSP and the speciality of this being it is palindrome in nature. Skipping neraval, she presented elaborate swaras in two kalams with interesting koraippu. The presence of the Mridangam Maestro UKS in the front through out the concert should have ignited the laya prowess in her- for she sang lot of kanakku oriented swaras for Kamalambam bhajare without sacrificing its beauty in any manner.

M.R.Gopinath embellished the concert with his imaginative raga alapanas and violin returns. Akshay Ram, a student of UKS revealed his vidwat and intense training received from the Mridangam Doyen UKS and in the coming years, he will surely be one of the front ranking percussionists who will make his master proud. The tani of Akshay Ram and Madipakkam Murali received continuous applause. An excellent concert for two hours.
