Dear Rasikas,
At this time of Ramanavami, let us celebrate with a gem of a concert on a similar occasion but 22 years back!
Verve, musicality, and Sahitya are woven delightfully in this rendering by
Vid. Trichur V. Ramachandran with Vids. Mysore Nagaraj, K.V.Prasad and Bangalore Venkataram
Best Wishes from 1994-TVS-Parvathi

RSachi/cpblog,
I will hear this concert possibly during this weekend. That too that yadukulakambodhi of GNB school is so very very different . Trichur V Ramachandran verve is always near equal or short to GNB- I have to hear to make up my mind between the two . I just googled to find bit more about the ghatam artist bangalore venkataram - and found interesting information about him. parvathi was truly rocking in 1994 with this team.

Rajeshnat,
How about we just say that Lord Rama brings about all these wonderful things,
and delve more into the esoteric of Raamayana,Thyagaraja and CM where things are still
closer to the Self!
'Best

I look forward to listen to this concert - I hope it will be soon!
Rajesh,

It has been on my list for a long time to write about Sri Bangalore K Venkataram in our Forum. I need to do that - I have lots of memories, pictures, music and (video too!) to share. Again, hopefully soon!

Open a thread Bangalore Venkataram in vidwan and vidushi topic and take it from there (you dont have to put in the title as Bangalore k venkataram and donot add any honorifics too), future search is getting wrongly indexed because of that. I donot want to steal the thunder , but based on what I read hbangalore venkataram appears to have done a lot.

Very commendable in seeking to honor Bangalore Venkataram with a separate page!
Not only a giant in playing the Ghatam, he contributed immensely to the cause of music
as the founder of ‘Percussion Art Center’ in Bengaluru.
Note some of his memories on earlier days and on another illustrious artist-from the pages of Sandhya Vinjamuri
http://www.geocities.ws/vinjamuri_s1951/BKVR_Page.htm
The video (below ) leaves a mark of his playing style as a Rasika, Krishna Parthasarathy, duly observes:
"Truly amazing. Notice at the end the Ghatam artist throws his instrument into the air THREE times!
The audience is visibly smitten."

As far as the concerts in 'Parvathi' Mysore went, it would be a rare day when he would not be there!

His son V Krishna is a Prof in mechanical engineering and also runs a mridangam school as well as an annual conference. Many wonderful lecdems have been conducted and also archived ( I remember VVS, Vedavalli, Mysore Vishveshwaran...)
There was a discussion about V. Krishna in rasikas.org itself some years ago.
