A concert that was a befitting reply to the critics, proving what Bharat Sundar is really capable of. Expecting more such concerts from him in future.

Good mix of ragas and kritis.. Excellent shubhapantuvarALi alap which brought out the essence and bhava of the raga. Excellent support from the accompanying artistes.. Overall a very good concert to remember..especially for the kriti/raga selection...

We really want to hear more rakthi ragas like begada, kedaragoulai, surutti , nattaikurinji, yadukula kamboji, sahana, etc taken up as sub main or preferably main. We would also like sowkhyam in his music. I think this is what the critics want. Whether it is a befitting reply or not, I dont know, but we would like Bharat to grow up as a musician. Thats all.

To add, sowkhyam is each individual's perception...can't generalise saying its missing in his music always...

Since I do not know Bharat Sundar much at all, and you not at all, this is based purely on reviews and responses. I am puzzled as to how one can judge sowkhyam or otherwise by reading a list of kritis. Anyway the man sang kanugonu sowkhyamu. Is that not enough as far as saukhyamu goes? Reading a lot of qualities through a song list can be taken too far.

I have heard him sing. There are many concerts on youtube. i dont have to actually be there to listen to his concerts to critique his recitals in this day and age of technology. There are many song lists for concerts here on rasikas. I almost never get to listen to a rakthi raga taken for elaboration or read about them being taken as sub main or main. There is a difference between singing a surutti as an end piece as tukkada and a surutti taken for elaboration as a sub main or main. By just saying that he has sung all these ragas is not done. Btw, i like your comment on kanugone soukhyamu. Funny His music is very very laya oriented. I am not saying that it is wrong. Just not my cup of tea. It would be better if people genuinely analyze and see if there is some truth to what I am conveying here, instead of the emperor's clothes kind of comments or just blindly defending him due to your own biases.

We said, have attended more than 12 concerts from December, his views seems to be biased after listening to YT, suggest let him attend physically and comment - instead of simply commenting on reading the reviews.

Because somehow the saukhyam that doesnt happen in his YT concerts suddenly happen in live concerts ? Because his kalyani on YT suddenly transforms into surutti when attending live concerts ?

Its baseless to comment purely on you tube videos which doesn't cover even 1/4 th of the actual concerts..for any musician for that matter...and many which do not hv the proper sound quality..

Baseless comment. Most of the reviewers who write here are highly opinionated and write crap with no basis !!
Bharat Sundar is one of finest artists today and who is an all rounder. Trained under Sri PSN and Semmangudi Bani, his concerts are highly enjoyable.

Why is there no room for honest criticism?
thenjasatta has an opinion as do everyone else - why castigate each other as "baseless" or in any extreme manner?
Personally, as a lay listener, I find Bharat Sunder to be an extremely virtuous musician. I may not find the soukiyam that I am looking for but that is my own personal preference.

As mentioned before and like u rightly mentioned (personal preference), soukhyam is what appeals to an individual's ears and mind. Purely personal... The only reason to use the word 'baseless' is- you can not opine or review a concert/singer based on you tube videos...which holds true for any singer.
