What a wonderful way of paying tribute to their Guru, yes its none other than Priya Sisters, ever smiling Vidushi Smt Haripriya and Vidushi Smt Shanmukhapriya sang a brilliant RTP in the Raga Ganamurthy in praise of their Guru Sangeeta Kala Acharya Vidwan Shree TR Subramanyam!
Priya Sisters were accompanied by wonderful team of artists Vidwan Shree MA Krishnaswamy on the Violin, Vidwan Shree Patri Satish Kumar on the Mridangam and Vidwan Shree Anirudh Athreya on the Kanjira!
I feel very much blessed to listen to such a good music after a long time. It was a complete package and everything was aptly sung and balanced! Nothing was overdone. Each and every composition was handled with so much dedication love. None of the items looked like fillers. They complement each other very well and sings with utmost bhakthi and joy.Probably it was the best concert that I heard in 2016! There is no exaggeration in this
The inaugural item was a Varna in the raga Kapi 'Sumasayaka' a composition of Swathi Tirunal was rendered very beautifully!
A masterpiece composition in the raga Vasanta Bhairavi "Nee Daya Raada" was superior, that dainya bhava was very evident in the different sangatis that they sang in the pallavi and even he kalapramana was also very apt. Good amount of swaras were sung on the pallavi line, landing in different notes and starting pallavi in Nishada was brilliant!
The naughtiness of lord Srikrishna was brought out very well in the composition of Purandaradasa in the raga Arabhi, "Aadidano Ranga Adbhutadindali"
The next one was Bhairavi, it was a short one but it was like how a good artist just by drawing few lines in appropriate way draws a wonderful portrait. In just four minutes the core part of the Bhairavi was rendered meticulously. The kriti was 'Mundativale Naa
Karpaga Manohara in Khandachapu was the next item in Malayamaruta, again it was profound and some awesome pattern based 3+4 5+7 swaras were sung in different parts of the pallavi Manohara, Karpagamanohara.
Now coming to the main item, yes it was grand beautiful majestic dazzling Kalyani. Haripriyakka was at her best in bringing different moods of Kalyani. It was like a river Ganga flowing all the way from Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal
Coming to the RTP scholarly Gaanamurthy ragalapana and taana by Shanmukhapriya and Haripriya. The sahithya of the pallavi was very apt "Gurumurthey Sangeetaspoorte Gandharva Gaanamurthey Akhandakeerte Subramanya Namste". Pallavi was set in Mishra Jati Triputa Talam Khanda Nade. Wonderful neraval followed by some creative swaras and the ragamalika section had Shahana and Rag Shree(Hindusthani origin) by Haripriya and Hamsadhwani by Shanmukhapriya. Pallavi was rendered in all the three speeds. RTP in a complete sense.Energetic Tani avratanam by Patri Satish Kumar and Anirudh Athreya was out of the world experience.
Saaku Saaku Manujaseve in DarbariKaanada a composition of Shree Kanakadasa was melodious. "Narayana" an Annamacharya composition was rendered in ShuddaDhanyasi! The concluding item was the MDR masterpiece Sagarashayana Vibho in Bageshree followed by Mangala! I am short of adjectives to describe their singing, difficult to put in words, it can only be experienced. Thanks to the artists and organisers for such a nice concert
