Eagerly looking forward to the upcoming release (on 25 Nov) of the malayalam movie Kamboji, based on a true story of a Kathakali artiste, and a Mohiniyattam dancer.

Movies themed on classical arts like this one, give us a glimpse of the life and personal struggles, joys and sorrows - and the human face of an artiste. Artforms - especially in earlier days - were not just a skillset developed through years of rigorous effort : they were actually a Way of Life.

As someone fortunate to be groomed musically in a Gurukulam, I identify with art as a way of life. And that's the reason I feel immensely moved, every time I watch scenes of the recent Marathi movie "Katyar Kaljat Ghusali", depicting a musician's mind through various turmoils in his evolution and growth - through the twists and turns of living a way of life.

I am looking forward to Kamboji as another classy film themed on our arts - this time from South India.

I am sharing a beautiful song from the film. From the preview that this song offers, this movie promises to be in the league of the finest. A serious attempt at excellence, is quite palpable in the direction, cinematography, music, dance - and of course the performance of the actors. Vineet and Lakshmi, being well trained dancers themselves, lend such authenticity to the roles they play.

Very "eagerly awaitable"...full of romantic possibilities.

Interesting the trailer has no Kambhoji.

(I also saw their "njaanapaana" dance musical recently. Very similar, but hinging on the story around Guruvayoor).

Malayalam movie makers are capable of making purely CM music movies. Kambodi may also be another Bharatam, His Highness Abdulla etc.

The above song is sung so clear , note by note in a popular raaga. I am sure VK would relish it . Even the nuances are well captured.
