• SGC rendered a kriti, composed by Sri.Balamurali Krishna (BMK) in Rishabhapriya. “Nandeeswaram VandE” was the song and he took swaram in “saptaswara rishabhapriyam”. He also said, while searching for a song on Nandhi, he found this kriti penned by BMK.
Someone in the back screamed Saint Thyagarajar also composed on Nandi. SGC could not hear that but I wanted to know the kriti of Saint. Can anyone help me ?

• Most of the kritis were new and as usual, SGC started with a varnam and ending with Srimushnav Raja rao’s tillana on Guru Ragavendra in hamsAnandi.

• GananAyagam bhajE-Rudrapriya-MD- (S). He said there are two versions, one in Poornashadjam and other one is Rudrapriya and he had taken the later. It is on Tiruvarur Ganapathy.

• Rishabhapriya-Sub-main (refer the first para). It was very nicely rendered with a superb return by Sanjeev. Almost all concerts, I observed when SGC accompanied by Sanjeev, there was always a spark between both of them. Those who watched TTD Live concert (last week) with Nevyeli Skanda on mridhangam, would agree with me. (Like Sanjay-Varadhoo, Malladi-EmbAr kannan chemistry …..) I always get confused with Jotishwaroopini and this rAgam. Yersterday too, till he clarified. It was nicely rendered and return by Sanjeev was equally good.

• Karnataka behAg kriti- nE nendu vedu gudurA” of Thyagarajan. “long time unheard” song. To my memory, I heard this once from Mah.Santhanam

• NeelAyadAkshi neevE-Paras-Shyama sastri.

• Main-madhyamAvathi- SaravaNa bhava-Papanasam sivan. He took neraval in “Annaiyum …nee enru”… and swaram in “saravaNA bhava”. Though I expected a WWF rAgam, he took MMVti and impeccable rendering of course.

Mridhangam- TSP was young and found difficult to catch some of his kOrvais. Mridhangam was bit noisy, may be of audio quality
Tani was not tani but “together”
SGC’s musical quality is always superb. mAmA sitting next to me was complaining at the beginning itself, why he looks like struggling to render a song. I told him till the last kriti, his face will be like that only.
When I came out, I saw the next day’s concert (today) is Priya Sisters and I also SAW PATRI SATHISHKUMAR-MRIDHANGAM .
I thought of appointment with E&T worrying my “drum”

Sumrukandu cha kumbhaja tumburu vara somesvara saarngadeva Nandi - vidulaku mrokkeda is the only krithi which comes to my mind when iIrelate saint Thyagaraja and Nandi.

1. Sang a neraval in the opening varnam

2. Nice overview alap (could have been longer) for rudrapriya

3. Viruttam ragas sounded like Naganandini, KKP, Behag and Sindhub to my ears.

4. Pronunciation was wanting... Charavana bhava, Charanam & Sharanam sung interchangeably. Pity that such talent is ignoring this important aspect.
