I thought Sri Sathyanarayanam was the sub-main but it turned out to be the main. I believe he did a gati bhedam in his swaras too, that was executed perfectly!

That's an understatement. I listened to this on YouTube and couldn't take it beyond a point. The voice isn't particularly pleasant (I understand this is subjective) and to go briga-fying ad nauseum was just not appealing.

Panthuvarali was my pick of this concert. KBMK is a talented vocalist endowed with a rich Manodharma in the SSI tradition. Not sure if the younger vocalists go through a voice culture training to find their natural strengths and comfort zones. KBMK may do well in the long run by cutting back on excessive brighas. It will take age and experience to see that view. I have a couple of CDs by him. "Madhava Maya" in one if his CDs would be in his natural zone. I have heard him live too a couple of years ago in Houston.

Akkarai, as is her standard, lived up to her own class.

Very nice compliment - sort of like Arunacala Kavirayar when says of sItA - "avaniyil illai IDu, avaLukkavaLE jODu".... or sant Tulsidas when he says of rAma - "raghuvar chabi kE samAn raghuvar chabi baniyA"...
