Sankark,
I heard most of the concert, Aravind's shanmukhapriya rAgAlApanA was very good. kAmbhOdi rAgA and SS's dEvi, nI pada sArasamu were so well essayed. It is possible to give a substantial concert in a short span of time, it seems. Many veterans' radio concerts are good examples for youngsters to take note of, I guess.

In the pUrNacandrika MD kriti - Sankha cakra : the final samaShti caranam : gujAdi graha vihitam virajA nati taTasthitam sajAtIyAdi rahitam nijAnanda botahitam - if sung with atItam from start - gu | jA ..( will that disturb dvitIyakshara prAsa?) - all the jA(s) on the beat - will give a good structural finish in ni |jA,, nan |,da bO, dha hi tam ,|| with preceding sections also vervy!

His earlier Parampara - mInakshi mEmudam was weighty just for the accompaniment provided by B Sivaraman - reminiscent of TNS/TKM medleys of yore!

There is no need of proof. but if you do need it...

At some of these events where there is, after all the rest of the stuff, not that much time left for music (Grrr), some of the senior artists, with their skill and professional experience, can leave our appetite satisfied in 1.5 or even 1.0 hours. On several such occasions, I have left feeling that I have have have experienced a full concert.

Another such concert was Smt Seetha Narayanan's. What a beauty. Soulful pristine / pure music. A beautiful kambhoji and Thodi. Effortless singing.

This will be etched in the memory for long...

Youtube recording available.

What a shanmukhapriya? And the maturity with which the Kambhoji is handled needs due recognition. I listened to the Academy Concert of Aravind too. It was a big hit.. Hoping to attend more of his.
