Bharathi Ramasubban : Vocal
Sandeep Ramachandran: Violin
Sai Nivethan Ravichandran: Mridangam
Song List:
1. Varnam Saami Ninne - Sri
2. Rama Nipai - Kedaram (S)
3. Kamakshmi Bangaru - Varali (RNS)
4. Enneramum Undhan - Devagandhari
5. Ninnada - Kannada
6. Balagopala - Bhairavi (RNST)
7. Heard the first part of a shlokam starting in Behaag, and I had to leave at this point, perhaps someone else can complete?
A very enjoyable concert with soulful singing by Bharathi and supported ably by both accompanists. Varali and Bhairavi were top-notch with a lot of emotional content in her singing.
Overall, it was a well-presented 'traditional' concert representing true classicism and spirit of carnatic music without any short-cuts.

IIRC, the neraval point in the Varali kriti was 'syAmkrishna paripAlini' and in the Bhairavi kriti it was 'vainika gAyaka' - need to confirm with my notes
The slokam tailed off into Sindhubhairavi and Dvijavanti and was concluded with 'tArunI njAn' of Svati Tirunal. A qualitatively much better and wholesome concert this year than her last year's outing. Greater confidence and soulfulness in her rendering were evident, as pointed out. Her voice too had an added sheen this year. The mrudangam wasn't too impressive while the violinist a RKSK protege' stood his ground well. A very dignified / gauravamAna concert. As always Guru PSN was there in the first row, encouraging his ward.
In her last year MA concert, IIRC she tripped up on the final korvai for the main which left her crestfallen. She had rendered the Hamir Kalyani kriti of Dikshitar ( parimala ranganAtam) very well. With an year or two I am sure she would graduate to the next slot. Which brings the question as to who is the likely promotee next year. Chances appear bright for Bharat Sundar. Need to watch out for his current year performance at MA.
On an other note, I guess Bharati had to hurry through the Bhairavi neraval/svaraprastara. She could have axed the Devagandhari piece, in hindsight. And perhaps a slightly expansive Varali was the culprit. Yesterday in the late evening slot, Shertalai Ranganatha Sarma too fell victim in similar circumstances. His Abhogi ( nIkEippudu- Sadasiva Rao) and erAmuni ( vakulAbharanam) ate into his time so much so that he had to axe Begada ( Esan Kanakasabesan) and had to seriously cut short his Brindavana Saranga pallavi ( Adi/misra nadai) with the violinist not getting to play the tAnam fully. The 'look at the clock syndrome' didn't impact his quality thankfully. He has such a grand voice and wonderful kAlapramAnam to boot.
