Me, her Music and The music academy: The love story continues.... Starting with Daru varnam by Shri Muthiah Bagavathar, followed by a Ganapathy kriti in Poornashadjam Raga and Nee Vadane Gana in Saranga, the intentions are clear. This concert is going to be absolutely blissful. The Bhairavi in the middle was out of the world. And what she did in RTP would have took everyone in the Academy by surprise. It is Sekarachandrika, which i hear the elders say that MLV Amma used to sing when we are not even born. Thank God, I finally got to listen through none other than her Torchbearer!!
It was lifetime moment which I cherish, to pass it down to my kids some decades later. I can tell them 'Hey kids, I was there in the Academy, when Sudha Amma sung Sekarachandrika'.The Meera bhajan right in the end was soul stirring. I let my tears to flow generously as mark of respect to the singer. Too much to take for a day.But you cannot ask for more. What a way to end 2016. Deeply moved and eternally connected..

Thanks for the post Madras Talkies. You seem to be having a great time in season this year. Coming to SR she seems to be in form this year..

Sekarachandrika is a panchama varja raga compared to shubhapantuvarali and the scale is SRGMDNS - SNDMG
RS. I was told by musician friends that she executed it brilliantly and of course the Diskhitar magnum opus Balagopala was sung with all the bhavam. So kudos to the vidushi that she chose the Sangeetha vidwat Sabhai to sing this rare ragam and follow her gurus footsteps who was known to be brilliant in handling such rare ragas.
