Sri Papanasam Sivan special

9.Naanoru viLayaattu bommaiyaa- Navarasa kannada
10. Enna thavam seydanai- Kapi
11. Karpagame- Madhyamavathi

Very good concert.
1. Although the sisters have been singing for many years, I had the opportunity to listen to them for the first time.
2. So far, to my knowledge, we never had an exclusive Sivan songs concert in Bangalore. This is the first one and definitely pulled off satisfactorily by the sisters.
3. Most important reason for success was the selection of songs/ragas and composition of concert. It is very important for this kind of thematic concerts, which essentially is restrictive for the artist.
4. Gajavadana, although heard on several occasions , did not make me recognise that it was a sivan song till yesterday.
5. I sat up when the authoritative kalyani song was started. (Also started writing down the song list!!) Very nicely rendered. One of the sisters kept pronouncing meenakshi as meenatchi. Probably assumed absence of kshi in the tamil alphabet, which is true.
6. All that followed were familiar kritis to me (except thodi) and heavy ragas as well.
7. Tamil diction was very good. I was told that they are currently learning from Charulatha Ramanujam and that could be the reason.
8. Thani, I felt right from beginning started at a faster rate compared to the song speed. But very vibrant.
9. Credit should go to Sri.Cheluvaraj for involving the other two percussionists and all three playing together in the peak areas of every rendition, that lifted up the overall effect, without affecting the vocal's importance. An experienced artist indeed.
10. The voices of both sisters are good. Well practised effort and able to sing all sangathis with gamakaas correctly so that they sit correctly in place. There was no undue circus, gimmicks. Overall , the concert gave a very pleasant experience.
11. B.Raghuram gave his usual high quality returns and following.
11. The BTM academy is celebrating its 25th Silver Jubilee year. Its president Sri.Anantaram moves around with a sprightly stride attending to artists, sponsors and audience. He is just 85 years old (It is a secret-don't tell anybody :) No one can believe that he could be anything more than early 70s.) He is a role model for other sabhas in Bangalore. We wish him great health and happiness for many many more years to come and to continue the commendable service he has been doing for the last 25 years to the cause of Carnatic music.

Thaamadamen Swami
Thamasam in Malayalam refers to place of stay.
Does it mean the same in Tamil too?
I have never heard use Thaamasam for delay in Tamil.
But there is another song Thaamasamaa Amma in Kuntalavarali by same composer.

So do Thamadam and Thamasam mean the same in tamil?

In Tamil there is only thaamadam ( sometimes approximated as thaamasam)- delay. There is no thaamasam-place of stay.
