G Ravikiran seshadripuram bangalore

Post by rrnagar_assoc »

escorted my grand niece to this concert as i have heard this artist before and wanted to hear him. moreover, i anyway had the duty of picking up my grand niece from a nearby coaching center - so the timing worked for us.
if i may add - after a refreshing 'tiffin' at a nearby udipi joint, we were all set for this concert.
when we entered, he was singing swarams for sobillu.

since i have already claimed my lack of deep theoretical knowledge, i am letting my grand niece share the list with all its r,n,s intricacies ;-)

overall, the concert was soulful - yes that's the word. loved the mohanam, ketharagowlai and saveri - the tanam round got a couple of rounds of spontaneous applause from the audience too.
the pakkams gelled well - though i felt the mridangist was a tad too loud at times. not sure what the morsing artist was doing most of the times too :p but he looked happy :-)

1) sobillu - jaganmohini - thyagaraja (s)
2) evarani - devamritavarsini - thyagaraja
3) narasimha agacha - mohanam - dikshitar (r,s)
4) devi brova samayamide - chintamani - shyama shastry
5) patti viduvaradu - manjari - thyagaraja
6) tulasi bilva - kedaragowla - thyagaraja (r,n,s) at "karunato..."
7) RTP Saveri - K.Triputa
8) sapasyat - jonpuri
9) rama rama seetha rama - tilang - purandaradasa
10) mangalam

violin: hm smita, mridangam: bc manjunath, morsing: b rajsegar.
- murari.

Thanks for sharing your (and your great niece's) concert experience with us. G.Ravikiran is worth listening to--he's one of our notable young vidvAns. Who were the artistes accompanying him?

Kindly correct venue name as Seshadripuram in your title.

It is "Udupi". Comes from the name of high Vedic scholars called Udupas who established themselves there.
Like Palghat brahmins, Udupi brahmins became world famous for their culinary skills too :)

Sorry Sachi_R. I stand corrected.
I think in thamizh and write in English :D

coming back to the concert, it was an enjoyable evening spent in the cool breeze and pleasant ambience of the college.
