I have not heard this thillana since about 1998 / 99. It used to be availanle on musicindiaonline, along with the MDR albums kept me going in a really *wintery* Aberdeen.

I was glad that I attended this concert. A power packed concert. It was special because of another reason- Chandrasekaran sir’s 80th birthday. We were all lucky to get his asirvathams on this auspicious day. The formal celebrations will be sometime in July- MC announced. Arkay Ramakrishnan Sir arranged for honouring the vidwan by Smt. Suguna Varadachary. A fine gesture. Before the start of the concert, MC told Krishna- Now it is 6.45. You please wind up by 9 O clock. So Krishna spaced his songs accordingly. Athana song is rare in the concert platform. I have heard this long back from B.Rajam Iyer. Thodi main and Sankarabharanam Pallavi. In the present scenario, pallavi in the major ragam has become much rare. Musicians prefer small ragams or unheard ragams for pallavi. TNSK deserves laurels just for this. The pallavi lines were coined including names of the two legendary players on the dias- M.Chandrasekaran and Mannargudi Easwaran. Wonderful presentation. Kudos to TNSK.
While singing swarams, beathing sound is audible. He should do something to eliminate this. TNS was also having this at some point of time. Then he avoided.
Waiting for his four hour concert this weekend.

A beautiful and rakti based Thodi.. Sri MC was in amazing form and as well as Sri Easwaran. Sri Krishna on the Ghatam had a great opportunity to play with the senior vidwans in a very elegant manner and contribute significantly to the concert.
