A link to the original from maNamagaL - the movie that introduced the travancore sisters. This clip shows a very young and lovely Padmini and Lalita towards the end.

rshankar, thanks. Nice video clip and great MLV singing.
Whose is the male voice in this song?

I think the male voice is Sundaram's. Arasi or CML will know more. It is an all time favorite of mine - Glad you liked it.

A very beautiful, imaginative, and at times very moving interpretation of this immortal song by Ms. Jothi Raghavan:

Ravi: Thanks for posting those links. Just excellent. The Flutist, H.S. Venugopal, just sparkles and pretty much carries the music portion of it. The long sequences of dancer's nrithya to instrumental music sans sahitya provides some insight into how that can be done in bharatha natyam. Also, there are places where the vocal and flute alternate the same line. The sahitya, though not overlaid during the flute portion, is still there in our minds. That makes us viewers overlay it on the nrithya in our minds and when it works it is quite delightful.

Very lovely piece by Ms Jothi Raghavan. Thanks. Long stretches of haunting flute in the second set of youtube links gives a feeling of deja vu....and some loss..... However the first link to the movie maNmagal doesn't work for me - keywords - manmagal, chinnachiru kiliye don't bring it up, either. Any other tags to search by ?
