Hi Rasikas,

I heard this pallavi in one of the kalakshepams by NKB where he says it's "pallavi describing the etymology of pallavi"

'padam tanakkoru pa;
layam tanakkoru la;
vinyAsam tanakkoru vi - iduvE kANum pallavi'

What raga/Thalam is it sung in ??
.
Is any recording of the same pallavi available/ or could anybody do an upload ??

I used to have a recording of TNS singing this, can't find it any more Recently [last few years] I've heard Abhishek Raghuram sing this in Kalyani, maybe Pallavi Durbar? Used to be on YT.

any idea of who somu Bhagavathar is ??

"Pallavi Somu Iyer of Thalaignayiru (son of Krishna Iyer, the court jester / musician under Sarabhoji Maharajah of Tanjore) could sing Ragam and Pallavi with great skill and in accordance with known rules.

Veena and Violin player Narayanaswami Iyer of Thiruvisanallur and Kuttayyan Chettiar of Devakottah were his notable students.

His son Radhakrishna Iyer / Bhagavatar, was good in singing and playing the violin."

Konerirajapuram Vaidyanatha Iyer was also a student of Thalaignayiru Somu Iyer, who imparted to him the techniques of tanam and swara prastaram.
