Violin: Sri B K Raghu
Mridangam: Sri Trichur R. Mohan
Ghatam: Sri Kovai Suresh
Time: 5:30 to 8:30 pm (extended till about 9:15 due to a delayed start)
This was my first live concert of Trichur brothers, although I have heard them often in Youtube recordings. The concert was a part of K. C. K. Raja memorial day and was conducted by Indira Nagar Sangeetha Sabha. After the initial mike adjustments and a small speech, they started off the concert close to 6 pm.
Song list:
1. Varnam-Ninnu kori, Vasantha
2. Sivatraya mahaganaptim- Nattai, a kriti of Swarna Venkatesa Dikshitar
3. Rama Rama pahi-Revagupti-Swati Tirunal
4. Sarasasama dana-Kapi narayani-Tyagaraja
5. Marivere-Ananda bhairavi-Syama Sastri
6. Giripriyam gangadharam-Kadanakuthookalam-Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavatar
7. Sri Kantimatim-Hemavati-Neraval and Swaras at Shuka saunakadi sadaardhitham, followed by Tani
8. Venkatachala nilayam- Sindhu bhairavi- Purandara dasa
9. RTP- Bahudari- Krishna nee begane baro- with Sudha dhanyasi, Hindolam, Desh, Sindhu bhairavi
10. Chembaikku natham- Raga?- Ramesan Nair (?)
11. Dasarnama- Darbari kannada (could not recollect the lyrics)
12. Mangalam- Pavamana- Tyagaraja
This was a neat and meditative concert by Trichur Brothers. The highlights were Ananda bhairavi raga taken up initially by Srikrishna, followed by some astounding swaras towards the end of the kriti. Beautiful dynamics between the brothers, I found it really nice the way they compliment and encourage each other. Not at all contrived and have a pleasant stage personality. Sri Kanitimatim was the icing on the cake. The Hemavati alapana was taken at length and the kriti was rendered in the same charm. Hemavati sounds mysterious in some phrases and they did complete justice to the kriti. This was followed by Tani, and as people began to slowly disperse and take loo breaks, Srikrishna requested everyone to keep pace with the talam and said "Let us listen to the tala sound, it is a simple Adi talam".
RTP in bahudari was enjoyable and the brothers took up the line Krishna nee begane baro as the Pallavi in Sudha dhanyasi, Hindolam, Desh, and Sindhu bhairavi (I am not sure if there were other ragas too taken up, anyone who attended may please correct/confirm). This was followed by Chembaikku natham, a Malayalam devotional genre, and a concluding Dasarnama. Great accompaniment by Sri Raghu on the violin and their father on the mridangam, on the whole, it was a well-planned concert, with a variety of kritis and some wonderful music and dynamics on stage.

I am not sure of that but it is from a collection of Krishna devotional songs by Ramesan Nair. He is a widely acclaimed Malayalam poet and has penned the lyrics for several films as well.
