Their endless fussing about the audio settings is getting old too. They must believe they have arrived!

Main was a 4 raga kriti. Kriti sung was "Kshemam kuru gopala". Ragas were Mohanam, Kapi, Behag & Sindhubhairavi. They announced that they would eschew the swaras for lack of time but thought better of it.

Failed experiment.

This kriti is of Narayana Teertar.
It has pallavi and anupallavi and 3 SaraNams

Kshemam Kuru gOpala

Akshin karunA nidhE - SaraNam- 1
PrahlAdhda bhaya vidhaara- S-II
Ajita vijaya gOpala- ending with Narayana Teertar mudhra- S -III

Though I did not attend, I assume from Sureshji's post, he must have rendered 4 raaga and continued this kriti in 4 raga.
That is pallavi, Anu pallavi in Mohanam
S-1 in Kapi
S-2 in Behag
S-3 in Sindu bairavi.

Since I belong to VarahUr, where NT sang this song, and we host "tarangini Utsavam" every on 26-27 Jan. We invited TBs to come and sing and they rendered this song with the same ragaas.

Yes. It was along the same lines. I personally felt it was a poor choice for main in a regular concert.

As suresh has put it vividly, it was a wasted effort.

The brothers sang the alapanas of four ragams MOhanam, Kapi, Behag and Sindubhairavi very well, with depth, manodharmam, voice felicity, and intensity. All the ragams were given importance and no touch and go affair. They did four or five rounds of alapana in the same order and even in the reverse order and also koraippu in the alapana. The alapana took 25 minutes. Such an alapana should naturally be followed by a tanam and pallavi. The simple kriti of Kshemam kuru Gopala can not hold the heavy alapana. They could have sung tanam and pallavi in MOhanam with ragamalika swaras in the other ragams. They sang a few rounds of swarams encompassing all the ragams in a single avartanam. But it lacked appropriateness.
The other kritis were sung with intensity and manodharmam riding high. There was no raga alapana for any of the earlier kritis
.
Their audio setting phobia is highly irritating. To pacify those who get irritated, they sing Sinamadayathe, seeri vizhathe in Bhaudari.

So what exactly was the problem with the audio? Volume, balance, or something else? Did they have someone stand back and listen? I am curious how they decide what is good (or good enough). 10 minutes is not a long time for sound check at all, but doing it after the audience is seated might make it seem like an eternity.

There was no problem at all. It all seemed like the Emperor's clothes. And an original way to punish the audience.

Initially they asked for all feedbaxk to be turned off. About quarter of the way into the concert they asked for 25% feedback. Then after sometine, they asked for it to be removed.

Feedback on stage can be quite maddening and tricky to manage dynamically especially if there is crowd noise. I remember one instance when TMK stopped in a middle of a concert and half-humorously told the aunties whispering loudly in the first row "I don't know if you realize that your conversation is being picked up by the mic and I can hear it on the monitor here." :-)

During the recent Priya Sisters' concert at BVB, there was a continuous snoring that was picked up by the microphones. It was a mystery where the sound was coming from, for a while we suspected one of the sisters, but finally concluded that it was from the 1st (VIP) row.
