spchennai,
What could be better? This is quick service, and from the horse's mouth at that! A composition of his 'guru grandfather'!
I did not know of this song by the great guru until recently. Many thanks to vidyaarthi's vidyaarthi for the lyrics!
In my younger days when I had the good fortune of learning for a short time from Sri. Sankara Sivam himself, I was not aware that he was a composer. Humility became him. How I wish he had taught me a few of his songs then!

I have assembled the P, AP, and C of vidyaarthi together and furnished the Thamizh script too through arunk's transliterator (to get a good feel of the padam)

Pa:sundari en soppanattil vandadAr solvAy
indira jAlamuLLa sendUr kandan thAnO endan thOzhI

apa:ARupaDai vIDu thArEn AsaiyODenbAn
ERu mayilum vElum thArEn ennaik kUDalAmO enbAn

ca: Mangala nAN en kazhuttil thongavE kaNDEnE
sankaran un mAman enRu sARRinAnE pORRinAnE

I think the word "sankaran" in the caraNam serves a dual purpose (as the composer's mudra and to denote Lord Shiva as the father-in-law of our dame in question).

That is right.
In thamizh, we have avan (he--familiar, as with children and friends--not the respectful avar). With that association, since his name ended with a 'an' sound as in avan, I suppose we called him SankaraSivam sir. He was referred to by both names.

I'm overwhelmed by such a quick and comprehensive response. This composition was requested by Mr. Sreevalsan menon, Kerala-based musician. I'd like to thank Vidyarthi and Mahakavi from me as well as from Mr. Menon.

OK, if it is for Mr. Menon here is a MalayALam version, for the sake of fidelity of text (again from arunk's transliterator)
