#IndianMusicExperience Bangalore-the first museum of its kind in the world?

Post by Sachi_R »

Imagine you wish to go to a world of Indian music, which gives you a broadbrush view through exhibits, displays and touchscreen interactive videos and audios of all that Indian music stands for. Especially classical music of every genre, period and scope.
And listen for hours to your favourite musicians (available if you're lucky), and
make your own music, play games with your grandkids and kids and friends,
And generally lose yourself in the world of music.

This is the place.
Indian Musical Experience. Open and getting ready for a big inauguration.

After visiting this impressive place in January 2017, I had tried to generate some interest in our forum, and it had turned out to be a damp squib! (should I say like most of my posts?!)

Dear Sreeni,
What a shame. You did write such a beautiful post and that too after meeting the KEY people!

I am afraid I did not read or respond perhaps (🙃) because I was so busy in conducting my daughter's wedding that fortnight (🙂)

In fact our trip a couple of days back entailed herding three generations from 7 to 67 - Ten tickets! So couldn't meet any of the key people.

The IME was NOT open to public when you visited. They only gave you a sneak preview. It openedin Nov. 2018. It is yet to be inaugurated in a big way.

Like most places in India/elsewhereI am afraid already there are signs of wear and tear and poor technical maintenance. Perhaps there are nearly a hundred touchscreen audio/video/computer interactive installations. So probability of everything working is low.

There are of course eager ticket checkers and stuff but I really wish they had tour guides and technical support that ensures many of their sophisticated installations are handled by visitors properly and function properly. Many of the graphic panels and displays are already showing signs of wear and tear by mishandling.

I really didn't want to say all this. Like you I am not often heard and yet keep plugging away 😀

If everything works, wow. What a pride for all of us who love music! Can be one of the best tourist attractions in India.

I feel Kalavanta is the kind of institution/team who should somehow collaborate with IME and hold their annual competitions there.
