Could anyone get me the lyrics of the beautiful and meaningful old movie song 'Innamum pArA mukham EnammA? Ezhai idar taviRkap pAramma (bAramA?)" based on Jounpuri with the names of the movie, singer and composer. I tried my best to get the audio also but I failed. If possible, link to audio is also welcome.

I am extremely thankful. After a long years of frustrated search, my efforts have not gone in vain. How nice it would be to hear you singing this beautiful song for me and others interested, which I would be doing first time in this forum! Pl do. By the way, I remember to have heard some of the lines of the song as:

Innamum pArAmukham Enamma Ezhai iDar tavirkkap pArammA (ammA)..

kaNNilayO unakku kAthunadum cheviDO

May be I am wrong.

Will do!
I was using my ears (which is not very good :)
This song used to be my favourite when 'velaikkari' was playing which became a terrific hit in the forties boosting ANNA and the DMK!
In fact I preferred KR RamasvAmy to Chidambaram JayarAman!

If guys are interested we can discuss some of their songs!

We can certainly discuss and I promise it will be quite interesting. Pl do not forget to post the audio clip link!

Vg: Marvellous songs!! It is very difficult to find really meaningful songs, good composers and beautiful singers nowadays in this area. Those days had great lyricists like KaNNadAsan, Pattukkottai KaulyANasundaram, and many I cannot recall for the fear of missing and directors like KVM, GR et al.

You can include:

ninaindu ninaindu nenjam urugudE
pOnAl pOgattum pOdA
kallellAm mAnikkak KallAgumA
and many more

Here is the audio of innamum pArAmukam

As a bonus here is the audio of the song the hero sings when he gets disillusioned with 'bhakti' and turns into a nAstika - a very poignant moment which ANNA capitalizes to drive in his philosophy :)

From the cassette of G S Mani , I hear it as

Ezhai iDar tavirppadu pArammA
kaNNillaiyO unadu kAdena seviDO

Some other meaningful songs in Jonpuri:

Asai mugam maRandu pOccE (Bharathi)
satvaguNa bOdan saraNamirukka cittamum vINE kalanguvadEnO (Ashok Kumar; P.Sivan)
nAn peRRa selvam nalamAna selvam tEn mozhi pEsum en singArac celvam ( movie: nAn peRRa selvam)

kAdenna SeviDO? (kAdu+enna?)--are you deaf? kAdena can mean 'as an ear' (kAdu+ena).

ena and enna are used interchangeably just like enum and ennum, ilaiyO and illaiyO etc.

In this context, since enna? is in the form of a question; also with kaNNilaiyO, I would think enna fits better here. Have to ask GKB! He knows best...

Thanks cml for those inetersting audio clips. Nicely rendered without distorting the orginal KRR's style.

mahakavi Thank you for the info.

Asai mugam maRandu pOccE (Bharathi) - a very nice piece and you love it when you hear SSI rendering it. There is an anecdote to this. Once when SSI was about to sing MangaLam, he was requested by someone for this song. After starting 'Asai mugam' he gave a pause and gestured as if he forgot the song and finished with 'marandu pOccE', followed by a very big applause.

nAn peRRa selvam nalamAna selvam tEn mozhi pEsum en singArac celvam ( movie: nAn peRRa selvam) - beautifully rendered by TMS with full bhAvam.

kallilE kalai vaNNam kaNDAn iru kaN pArvai maRaindAlum kANum vagai tandAn
- what to say when you hear SGR with his full involvement as usual! You can immediately picturise the sequence in the picture. Such was the beauty of the lyrics in this song. Gone are those days of melodious CM rAgams based songs!!

If the MalayALam songs have still appeal, it is due to their sticking to CM in most of the songs even today in spite of globalisation effects in India!!!

Dear Sri Lakshmanan,
If these old song messages are written in Tamil, the essence of the pronounciation and also the meaning is not lost. That is why I preferred. No harm. Of course non-tamil persons cannot read. However, if anybody wants to read tamil fonts, they can go to "tools -view-
character encoding-UTF8."
